On Saturday November 9th the Hely Hub on the Hoogkwartier in Rotterdam will officially open! The Hely Hub could already be used for two months by participants of the Mobility Challenge, but will now be available for the whole neighbourhood. The various forms of shared mobility in the hub will help the residents of Rotterdam to organise their transportation more sustainable, affordable and smart.
Rotterdam's first Hely Hub opened on November 9th at the Hoogstraat in the neighbourhood Hoogkwartier. The hub is equipped with various forms of shared mobility: e-bikes, electric cargo bikes, e-cars and regular cars. Residents in and around Hoogkwartier can use all these vehicles with just one app.
Shared mobility made easy
Shared mobility is not an unfamiliar concept in Rotterdam, and for good reason: parking spaces are scarce, traffic is getting worse every day and air pollution is increasing. By sharing your mobility, instead of purchasing, these issues can be prevented and resolved without losing flexibility. That's why Rotterdam is the home of many shared cars, scooters, bikes and -biròs. At Hely all these vehicles can be used through just one app: the Hely app. The Hely vehicles are not scattered around the city, but can always be found in one central location: the Hely Hub. This way you'll always know where you need to go to get your ride, and you don't need to create a seperate account for each kind of transport. Way easier!
Visability during the Mobility Challenge
Besides the advantages of shared mobility for the environment and traffic, it can also make neighbourhoods more attractive. This became clear during the Mobility Challenge Hoogkwartier. During this challenge thirty residents put their cars away and only used Hely shared mobility instead for two months. The parking spots that came free were transformed into temporary green areas. This way the whole neighbourhood could see what shared mobility can do with public space, and how much better this space can be used. The Mobility Challenge Hoogkwartier was a coöperation between Stadslab Hoogkwartier and the city of Rotterdam, aided by Hely, to make Rotterdam more future-proof.
