HELY & ASML

In September 2019, ASML and Hely began talks about what kind of shared bike service would fit ASML's mobility challenges. The goals: to avoid increasing traffic pressure in the region along with ASML's growth and to encourage sustainable travel for employees. Together, we worked out a back-to-many-service design: several transfer hubs with bikes on campus and at locations where employees can take and leave bikes at each hub. With the icing on the cake: the hub opened in January 2023 at Eindhoven Central Station with 250 parking locations. Soon ASML employees found this hub and it is completely empty almost every workday. Employees bike from Eindhoven Central Station to the ASML campus in 20 minutes.  

There are now over 550 e-bikes spread across 17 hubs ready to take ASML employees to and from their workplace. Since the start, over 175,000 rides have already been made by ASML employees to and from the ASML campus, of which 62,147 rides in 2023 alone!

CONTRIBUTION TO CO2 GOALS AND EMPLOYEE FITNESS

Employees open and close the bikes using the Hely app. They can also indicate there when they experience problems with the bike and give a rating to the ride. With an average of 4.7 out of 5, ASML employees rate the e-bikes highly. Hely takes care of the maintenance of the bikes and the redistribution of the bikes among the hubs. For ASML, this contributes not only to CO2 targets but also to good employment practices and staff fitness.
