The Netherlands is famously known for her biking culture. Not only do Dutch people hop on their bikes, no matter the weather, to do their groceries, to go to work or to visit friends. When the sun is shining, we loving taking out our (e-)bikes to go along one of the many beautiful bike routes in our country. We've made a list of the four amazing bike routes for you!
The Amstel is an iconic river, around which the capital of the Netherlands was once built. Are you looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for an afternoon? This beautiful and varying bike route is exactly what you are looking for. Meandering along the Amstel, charming farmsteads pop up left and right. And every now and then, the city shows its head as if it were a special piece of decor in the background. Along this route, you will also find several historic windmills, such as the Riekermolen, built in 1636, and De Zwaan windmill, built in 1638.

Just above Maarssen you’ll find the Buitenplaatsen en Plassen bike route. The perfect bike route for anyone who is a real lover of the typical Dutch sceneries. The route moves along and through the Loosdrechtse Plassen, Maarsseveen and the Vecht. You will be surrounded by picturesque farms, windmills and castles. You can end your bike route by paying a visit to one of the oldest castles along the Vecht: Slot Zuylen.

This bike route is perfect for everyone who adores colourful nature. You will bike along beautiful fruit orchards and beautiful little towns such as Cothen, ‘t Goy and Werkhoven. In the spring, when the trees in the orchards are in blossom, you will be immersed in the delicious smell of the growing blossoms. In summer and fall, you’ll find multiple little stands in the area where you can buy fresh fruit. This way, you can even come home with a little souvenir from your bike tour!

You can find several Liberation bike routes in Noord-Brabant. These bike routes take along a journey of the different stories of the liberation of this southern Dutch province in 1944. The town of Son en Breugel is one of the places that holds a story. On September 17th 1944, hundreds of planes flew over this area and dropped thousands of allied paratroopers. The bike tour brings you to historic places that tell multiple stories, one of which being the story of the battle scene of Operation Market Garden. But it also tells you stories of places where people could sometimes forget about the war, even if it was just for a little while.
